EPG

A platform to:

  • maintain aphid species (11 different species, and several clones for certain species) in a controlled manner, avoiding inter-clone and inter-species contamination
  • analyze the feeding behavior of biting-sucking insects (aphids, mealybugs, whiteflies, etc.), the main vectors of phytoviruses
  • assess plant resistance to different aphid species and to viral transmission
Pucerons Ian Wright

Equipment:

  • a set of hermetically sealed ventilated cages (~20) for rearing aphids on their respective host plants
  • a C2 laboratory dedicated to the preparation of plant material and to experiments requiring specific confinement
  • three electro-penetrography devices (Giga-8dd basic 8 channel EPG), each able to study the behavior of 8 aphids in parallel

The equipment on this platform was acquired with funding from the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR) and the Région Grand Est.
